Edward F. Lovell was born in Savannah, Georgia in 1847. He was the son of Edward and Mary A. Lovell of Massachusetts. Edward F. Lovell joined the Confederate Army on July 9, 1864 in Savannah, Georgia. He was a private in Captain John R. Johnson's Company K, 6th Regiment, Georgia Volunteers. From the description of James E.
